Morning Affirmations Of Faith

You may be one of those people who leaps out of bed and greets the morning with a shout of glory—if so, I have a real problem with you…just kidding!

But I am definitely not that sort of person. I come from a species of mammal closely related to the sloth. That means I require lots of help first thing in the morning (thank you, Peets Coffee). My engine revs up slowly in the mornings, and winds down slowly in the evenings. So for me, it’s very useful to have some morning rituals to affirm my faith and to express my dependence on the Lord.

So I want to share with you some Morning Affirmations of Faith that I often use to begin my day. Don’t think I go through all of these every day—some days I use all of them; some days I use none of them; and other days I pick and choose between these, the Psalms, and The Valley of Vision. But rarely a week goes by now when I don’t turn to these Morning Affirmations of Faith at least once or twice to help remind me of who I am in union with Christ, and what the chief end of my life is: to bring glory to God and to enjoy him forever. Sometimes I go through these quickly, as a rehearsal of truths that I dare not forget; other times I work through them in a slower, more meditative way, using them as prompters for prayer.

I share these with you hoping they will be as encouraging to you as they’ve been to me.

MORNING AFFIRMATIONS OF FAITH

Unto You, O Lord, I offer my heart – promptly and sincerely.

Good morning heavenly Father,
good morning Lord Jesus,
good morning Holy Spirit.
Heavenly Father, I worship you as the creator and sustainer of the universe.
Lord Jesus, I worship you, Savior and Lord of the world.
Holy Spirit, I worship you, sanctifier of the people of God.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Heavenly Father, I pray that I may live this day in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Holy, blessed and glorious Trinity, three persons in one God,
have mercy upon me. Amen.

We can benefit from deeply fixing in our hearts this fourfold description of what we inherit through faith in the Messiah. At the outset of each day, we should hear God saying,
•You are accepted, because the guilt of sin is covered by the righteousness of Christ;
•You are free from bondage to sin through the power of Jesus in your life;
•You are not alone, but accompanied by the Counselor, the Spirit of the Messiah;
•You are in command, with the freedom to resist and expel the powers of darkness.

I believe on the Name of the Son of God.
Therefore I am in Him, having Redemption through His Blood, and Life by His Spirit.
And He is in me, and all fullness is in Him.
To Him I belong, by purchase, conquest, and self-surrender.
To me He belongs, for all my hourly need.
There is no cloud between my Lord and me.
There is no difficulty, inward or outward, which He is not ready to meet in me to-day.

I believe that today:
1. God is sovereignly directing my life as I yield myself to Him, and that He loves me unconditionally, and I love Him and put Him first in my life.
2. Christ is my Lord and Master, and I seek to abide in Him and do His will immediately and exactly.
3. The Holy Spirit is my friend, teacher and guide, Who will open and close doors today and fill me with Himself to make me an effective servant.
4. I now commit my wife and family to the Lord, Who loves them as well as those others I love. They too are in His sovereign care.
5. I step out in bold faith and relax in the Lord, and enjoy this day given to me by Him. I trust Him to use me today.
